<p><strong><u>Nurse’s Aide </u></strong>- <strong>(A)*</strong></p> <h1>A Certificate Program</h1> <h1>128 Clock Hours (Monday-Thursday-8:30am to 2:30pm)</h1> <h1>Approximately 5 Weeks</h1> <p>This 128-hour program prepares the student with the necessary skills to successfully complete the State of Texas skills and written examinations for Nursing Assisting, as well as an entry-level position as a Nurse’s Aide in a health facility. Students receive an introduction to anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, infection control, communication and interpersonal skills, safety and emergencies, patients’ rights, death and dying, medical law and ethical treatment, basic nursing skills, and patient care. Consideration is given to caring for the elderly, short-term patient care, caring for a surgical patient, and caring for the terminally ill or ambulatory patient. Students are required to participate in a clinical learning experience under the supervision of the instructor.</p> <p>Students will also participate in CPR Training and (6) hours of CDT training . Upon completion of this portion of the program, the student will receive a CPR card. Upon completion of the entire program, students will receive a Certification of Completion.</p>

Medical Assistant Program
|
<h4><u>Medical Assistant Program</u></h4> <h1>A Certificate Program</h1> <h1>740 Clock Hours (Monday-Thursday-8:30am to 2:30pm)</h1> <h1>Approximately 31 weeks</h1> <p>This seven hundred-forty hour (740) program prepares the student for entry-level employment in a clinical/medical setting of a health facility. Students may be employed as Medical Assistants in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and other areas. Students receive instruction in medical law and ethics, terminology, anatomy and physiology, human relations, use and care of diagnostic equipment, venipuncture, injections, intro to pharmacology, universal precautions, vital signs, CPR, first aid, hematology, EKG, stress testing, Holter monitor, urinalysis, and microbiology, basic computer operations, administration of front office medical procedures, insurance forms, CPT codes. Students will be required to participate in a 160-hour externship experience after completion of their classroom studies. Students who complete the program receive a Certificate of Completion, and are eligible to sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification, if they desire.</p>

Pharmacy Technician

<h4><u>Pharmacy Technician</u></h4> <h1>A Certificate Program</h1> <h1>720 Clock Hours (Monday-Thursday-8:30am to 2:30pm)</h1> <p><strong>Approximately 30 Weeks </strong></p> <p>This seven-hundred-twenty hour (720) program prepares the student for entry-level employment in a pharmacy setting. The course introduces the student to the role and responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician in the retail setting, hospital and private setting. Students will be introduced to safety within these settings, professional liability, and ethics. Consideration is given to the fundamentals of emergencies, infection control, record keeping, safety and hazardous materials, trade and generic medications, pharmacy law, IV order, anatomy and physiology as it relates to medication, aseptic techniques and outpatient prescriptions. In order to gain experience in an actual pharmacy, students will be required to participate in an externship at an approved hospital or pharmacy where they perform duties as a pharmacy aide. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion and qualify to apply and be eligible to sit for national certification. Completion of this course qualifies the graduate for entry-level employment.</p>

Commercial Driver’s License A Certificate Program 214 Clock Hours (Monday-Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday 8am to 12pm Approximately 6 Weeks This program prepares students to obtain a commercial driver’s license upon successful completion of the Entry Level Driver Testing Video’s, the Good Careers Academy courses and passing the Texas Commercial Driver License written and driving exam. Students will have a classroom introduction including written inspection. They will then proceed to prepare for the road and hands-on pre-trip inspection. The program will instill safety practices to employ while the students practice driving on city streets, highways, and surface roads. *Students are provided one ten-minute break per hour.
